About this run
The Fiesta Walk/Run offers a special event for young girls aged 6-7: a 0.4 km race designed for them. This event is part of a larger fundraiser organized by the City of Reedley Community Services Department and the Reedley Parkway Committee. The funds raised will support improvements and amenities for the Reedley Community Parkway, such as new picnic tables, signage, artwork, and kiosk upgrades, as well as provide equipment for volunteers who maintain the parkway.
This specific race is held in memory of Mr. Rusty DeRuiter, a former teacher. The organizers partnered with the Kings Canyon Unified School District to involve students in the event, making it a community-focused initiative. While other races at the event include a timed 6-mile run, a 2-mile fun run/walk, and a 6-mile fun walk, this 0.4 km race is a fun, non-competitive opportunity for young participants.
