Give thanks and give back: Support families striving for stability this holiday season. Shake a tail feather with your favorite holiday tradition: the HumanKind Lynchburg Turkey Trot, presented by Scott Insurance. Lace up for the largest 5K in the area – where every step is a part of something big! The Lynchburg Turkey Trot is a community fun run/walk with all proceeds of this fundraising race supporting the programs and services of HumanKind.  More Than a Race This race is a testament to what happens when a community comes together, creating something powerful through generosity, connection, and unwavering support for neighbors in need. Bring your flock, come dressed in costume, and be part of a tradition that makes a meaningful difference. Did you know? The event's roots stretch back to 1988 when Don Lucy, who grew up at Presbyterian Homes, now known as HumanKind, created the race as a way to give back and help raise funds and awareness for individuals, children, and families across Virginia. What started as a simple act of generosity has grown into one of Lynchburg's most anticipated holiday traditions, attracting thousands of participants and supporters each year.
